In May 2024, The Healthy Room Project partnered with the LAPD 77th Division to assist a blended family of seven children who had recently relocated to Los Angeles after experiencing homelessness.
Bedroom #124
During a chance meeting at a bus stop, a mother shared the challenges her family has been facing. As a mother of five, she explained that life has been very stressful, relying solely on her husband's income. The family is currently renting a two-bedroom house, and the rent has recently increased to $2,200 a month. The parents sleep in the living room so their children can have the bedrooms. The Healthy Room Project stepped in to provide essential support, improving their living space to better accommodate their needs and ensuring the children have a secure and comfortable environment to grow.

In December 2023, The Healthy Room Project partnered with the Modesto Police Department to assist a needy family by providing essential furniture for a child's bedroom.
Bedroom #29
A single mother contacted the Healthy Room Project seeking assistance for her youngest son, who lacked proper furniture in his bedroom. After the eldest son expressed the need for his own space to focus on his studies, both boys were given separate bedrooms. However, due to limited resources, the younger son had been sleeping with either his brother or his mother. The family has not been in contact with the father for over a year, and the mother has faced additional challenges with her teenage daughter no longer living at home. The Healthy Room Project stepped in to provide much-needed furniture, creating a comfortable and dedicated space for the younger son and improving the family's overall living conditions.

In January 2024, The Healthy Room Project partnered with the Modesto Police Department and Hands On OC to transform the living conditions of three children from Enslen Elementary School in Modesto.
Bedroom #62
The principal of Enslen Elementary School nominated three siblings for the Healthy Room Project due to their poor living conditions. The children were sharing outdated and inadequate sleeping arrangements, with one sleeping on a mattress on the floor in a hallway. The Healthy Room Project recognized the negative impact of these conditions on the children's well-being and academic potential. With the help of 15 volunteers from Hands On OC and the Modesto Police Department, the children were provided with new, safe, and comfortable sleeping arrangements, significantly improving their living environment and offering them the stability they need to thrive.

The Healthy Room Project had the opportunity to support a family living in a transitional home provided by a local mission. The family, consisting of a mother and her four children, has experienced significant hardship, moving from place to place for several years. At one point, they lost all their possessions when the mother was forced to leave them behind, only to return and find them given away. Their journey included periods of extreme instability, such as living in a kitchen with all four children, and at one point, the mother believed they might have to reside in a park. Fortunately, a chance encounter led them to the mission, where they were able to find some stability and eventually move into a transitional home. Through the Healthy Room Project, we provided this family with a room that offers a safe and nurturing environment, helping them take another step toward rebuilding their lives.

In April 2023, The Healthy Room Project, in partnership with the Stockton Police Department, provided essential support to the Bell family, who reside in Section 8 housing in Stockton. The family, consisting of a mother and her six children, has faced numerous challenges, including mental health struggles, an abusive relationship, and foster care. With the father incarcerated and little to no contact with the children, the family has been in dire need of assistance. The project furnished the children’s bedrooms, ensuring that each child had a bed, desk, and dresser. With the support of two local nonprofit organizations, Crossroads Church in Manteca and Bread of Life in Stockton, volunteers assembled the furniture and delivered it to the family, filling their pantry and refrigerator with food. Modesto Police Officer Sean Dodge worked a second job to earn $4000 to support, underscoring the community’s commitment to helping those in need.
